Preferensi Pemilihan Jenis Pakan dan Kombinasi Menu Untuk Landak Jawa (Hystrix javanica) yang Dikandangkan
Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the type of food that fits best for Javan porcupine in order to maximize its productivity as a micro livestock. The samples were four males and one female Javan porcupine which have been acclimatized for two months; and thirteen types of feed consisting of vegetables, fruits and tubers. Observation and calculation were based on the distribution of eight different menus consisting of five types of randomized selected feed from the thirteen kinds of feed, by feeding each menu for five days. The results were then analyzed descriptively and tested using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) and Duncan test. The results indicated that the most prefered feed were apples, cauliflowers, yams, water spinaches, cabbages, cucumbers, bananas, and sweet potatoes, respectively. Whereas, the type of feed which were disliked by Javan porcupine in order were coconuts, cassavas, potatoes, carrots, and corns. The result of menu preferences indicated that menu V is the best highrated consumption, followed by menu VI, menu VII, and menu IV. The main sources of energy for Javan porcupine were carbohydrate, protein, and water.
