dc.description.abstractThe needs of food and medicine always increase. The fulfillment of these needs can be met by the utilization of natural resources. Many plant species contains nutrients and essential contents for health and medicinal materials that needs to be explored. Sinarwangi Village is a village around the food of Mount Salak, Bogor. Community of Sinarwangi Village utilize food and medicinal plants directly. Plant untilization which is done by Sinarwangi Village community was closely related to food and health needs in their daily life. The aim of this study is to identify and asses the diversity of food and medicinal plants, also conservation practices in Sinarwangi Village on the utilization of food and medicinal plants. This study was conducted on Mey until June 2012 at Sinarwangi Village by using interviews with a purposive sampling respondent selection as much as 30 respondents. The result of this study showed that there are 79 species from 40 family food plants and 89 species from 47 family identified as medicinal plants from various kind of habitus. The utilization of food plants was dominated by Cucurbitaceae as much as 8 species. Cucurbitaceae family was the main comodity to fulfill the needs of food. The habitus of food plants was mostly tree habitus as much as 30 species. The utilization of medicinal plants was dominated by Zingiberaceae and Fabaceae as much as 8 species. The highest habitus of medicinal plants was herbs habitus as much as 34 species (38%). The knowledge of food and medicinal plants utilization was mostly come from hereditary. The conclusion of this study is that community of Sinarwangi Village utilized plants for food and medicine. Conservation practices such as plant conservation activity, plant cultivation activity and land use. Use of land in Sinarwangi Village includes land use for residential, gardens, fields and forest.en
