Production of ethanol can utilize carbohydrate biomass such as simple sugar, starch and lignocelluloses. Yeast can directly used the simple sugars and lignocelluloses convert it into ethanol. Starch cellulose should be hydrolyzed before used as fermentable sugar in bioethanol production. The objectives of this study were to select yeast based on its capability to produce ethanol from various kinds of sugar. Five local isolates from rotten fruts and Saccharomycers cerevisae and Saccharomycers ellipsoids were examined its capability to metabolize and to produce ethanol from there sugars. The result showed that highest yield of bioethanol obtained from R isolate (31.04 g/l of ethanol) by using glucose as substrate, T isolate in mannose (20.80 g/l) end E isolate (6.67 g/l) in xylose, lower compared to Saccharomycers ellipsoids in maltose (33,62g/l) and by using maltodextrin (4.70 g/l) as sole carbon sources.en
