Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba (Roxb.) Miq.) is one of the current tree species that have been cultivated in plantation forest and social forest. Jabon belongs to fast growing species with straight and cylindrical shape, made jabon as the most wanted raw material for wood industry. However, the expansion of jabon is not in line yet with land utilization by agroforestry system. Land utilization by using appropriate agroforestry system could increase economic income at the same time provide soil and water conservation underneath the tree stand. Good cultivation system arrangement was influenced by rooting system. This is related to the absorption of nutrient elements between staple crops and agriculture crop. In addition root system affects the growth of crown that would influence the availability of sunlight to agricultural crops. This research aims to find out jabon’s rooting systems in a mixed and monoculture pattern. The benefits of this research is to give a reference agricultural crops in accordance with condition of the rooting. The results showed that the rooting in the mix and monoculture pattern has a long and deep roots that are almost the same. Setting the right planting distance between staple crops and agricultural crops are necessary to avoid competition of nutrients, water and lighten
