dc.description.abstractThe objective of this research was to study the protection of combination between temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza), meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L), sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata), and temuireng (Curcuma aeruginosa) on mortality of Avian Influenza (AI) infected-broiler (challenge test). Sixty broilers were randomly divided into six treatment groups (F1, received combination of temulawak, meniran, sambiloto and temuireng; F2, received temulawak, meniran and temuireng; F3, received temulawak and temuireng; F4, received meniran and sambiloto; negative control was specific pathogen free/SPF (chicken without vaccination and herbal extract), and positive control group that received only AI vaccine. Challenged test was done at Biosafety Level 3 facility. The challenge AI virus used was H5N1 Nagrak strain 0,1 ml 105 EID50. The length of the challenge was 10 days. The result showed that F3 and F1 groups give 10% protection within one broiler live at the last days of test. The result mention above concluded that this two combination could be developed as an anti AI virus substance and further study is needed.en
