dc.description.abstract | The development of human civilization and the modern technological advances led to a variety of benefits, whether they are positive or negative. One of the negative aspects is the problem of urban development. Urban development has a negative impact on several aspects, including environmental aspects. There is a need of space to accommodate population and their activities make greenery open space tend to be converted into built space. In general, urban greenery space consists of herbs, plants, and vegetation (both endemic and introduced) to support the benefits of ecological, socio-cultural, as well as architectural. This thesis discusses an application of single polarized ALOS PALSAR Fine mode (FBS) imagery to identify green open spaces in Jakarta. Specifically, this research studied the separation between classes of water bodies, built space, woody greenery open space, and non-woody greenery open space using the L-band. In this study, classification of greenery open space was performed using decision tree method on tonal data. The results suggested that ALOS PALSAR has the capability to give a fairly good classification result on greenery open space mapping in Jakarta area; nonetheless, some objects could not be perfectly classified because of the specification of the data used in this research. | en |
