An appropriate information such as a good fishing season is needed to perform efficiently fishing operations. Values of fishing season index can be used to determine an appropriate time in perform of fishing operations. The objective of this research is to determine fishing season pattern of pelagic fish on Apar Bay. This research was conducted for six months from April to September 2009 on Apar Bay, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province. The fishing season pattern was analysed by using time series analysis techniques toward catch per unit effort of pelagic fish for the last four years (from 2003 to 2008) which was determined using the method of moving average (Wiyono 2000). This results showed that based on values of fishing season index, there were three fishing season pattern of pelagic fish : 1) fishing season for mackerel (kembung), scad (selar), tembang dan anchovy occured from january to june (starting from the west monsoon, the first transition, until the east mansoon); 2) fishing season for /ayang occured from january to march (the west mansoon); and 3) fishing season for tenggiri and tongkol occured from october to desember (from the second transition to the early west mansoon).
