Streptococcus agalactiae is one of the main agents responsible for subclinical mastitis in dairy cattle and as an obligate parasite in udder. In human, this bacteria are the leading cause of human postpartum and neonatal infections. Characterization of S. agalactiae usually done by conventional serotyping methods. Up to now, based on the occurrence of surface antigens. S. agalactiae could be devided in to 9 polysaccharide antigens and 3 protein antigens. Although this method is often used but actually the method had lack of a sufficiently discriminatory typing system and the existence of nontypeable (NT), therefore a new approach by genotyping will be used. The aim of this research was to know how the distribution of serotype of S. agalactiae, the relationship of phenotype and serotype and the profile of DNA and the genetic relationship between isolates. The benefit of these research might give an information in preventive of the subclinical mastitis and to find a specific marker that can be used for detection of a cross infection between human and cattle.
