Abstract
A good physical endurance is closely related to exercises and nutrition. In a good nutritional status, people can achieve high physical endurance. Objectives of this research were: I) to study consumption of food, energy and nutrition, 2) to study the energy expenditure, 3) to study the balance of the consumption and expenditure of energy and 4) to study physical endurance. Research held at Semarang Police Academy, Center of Java, on July 2001. This research using Cross-sectional design. The samples were Semarang Police Academy students. Result: the characteristics of the samples are : ages are between 18-25 years old, with average ages 21,8 ± 1,6, heights are at about 1,65-1,80 meter, with average heights 1,709 ± 0,04, weights are at about 50-76 kilograms, with average weights 63,8 ± 5,3. Based on BM1, 90 percent of the samples has normal nutritional status (BM1 18,5-25,0). The energy consumption are less than adequacy, but the average of energy consumption level are still at normal category. The average of protein, iron and vitamin C consumption are above RDA level. There is still an imbalance between consumption and energy expenditure, whereas energy consumption is bigger than expenditure, and the energy imbalance is 251 kilocalories. The result of ergocycling test show sthat 90 percent of the samples has very good in physical endurance, with the average value o/V02 max 71,1 cc/kgBB/menit. By using correlation Pearson test, there are significant correlations between energy consumption level and physical endurance and between nutritional status and physical endurance.
