dc.description.abstract | Malaria is a world wide parasitic disease. Every year malaria caused 2 millon of death. Death resulting from the disease was caused by the parasite’s resistance to the malaria drug. Coscinium fenestratum have been used as a traditional medicine against malaria in East Kalimantan. The aims of the research were to know the effect of C. fenestratum root extract to Plasmodium bergheion total red blood cells of mice. Three doses of ethanol and water root extract, 0,625, 1,25 and 3,75 mg/25 gr mice/day were used in this study. Chloroquine was used as positive control, while PGA 3% was used as negative control. The result of this research indicated that dose of 3,75 mg/25 gr mice/day water extract could reduce number of parasitemia to 9,77%, while the ethanol extract 3,75mg/25 gr mice/day could reduce number of parasitemia to 5,281 % on day 7. Dose of 0,625 mg/25 gr mice/day and 1,25 mg/25 gr mice/day on both ethanol and water extract could not reduce any number of parasitemia on the next day. Inhibition by Chloroquine reached 9,41% on day 4. | en |
