Implementasi Medik Konservasi Pada Owa Jawa (Hylobates moloch Audebert 1798): Studi Kasus Pada Empat Lembaga Konservasi Eksitu Di Indonesia
Abstract
The implementation of conservation medicine on 61 silvery javan gibbons (Hylobates rnolnch Audebert 1798) at The Cikananga Animal Rescue Center in Sukabumi (15 gibbons), The Surabaya Zoo (10 gibbons), The Javan Gibbon Center on Bodogol Sukabumi (6 gibbons), and The Schmutzer Primate Center on Ragunan Zoological Park Jakarta (30 gibbons), was became the objects of this cases study. The study was focused on (1) good care practices, (2) good medical practices, and (3) good breeding practices to implement good conservation medicine practices that consist of preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and promotional aspects. The main problems that faced on that practices are high number of infant mortality (62,5%), threat of zoonotics, and health problems such as gastrointestinal disorders (43,9%), musculoskeletal disorders (16,7%), respiration disorders (1 2,1%), integument disorders (1 0,6%), behaviour disorders (10,6%), and reproduction disorders (6,196). Zoonotics such as hepatitis B, TBC, and herpes was difficuit to recorded because the lack of medical check up and laboratory test. The success of breeding program was noted and seen to be depend on capability of gibbons to pairs, foods and environmental enclosure adaptation as natural condition, as well as infant care. The success of conservation medicine to solve mentioned problems are very important to maintain existence and to increase the population of silvery javan gibbons that being critically.
