Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Etanol Rimpang Temu Putih (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe) Terhadap Jumlah Dan Diferensiasi Leukosit Pada Kelinci Yang Diinduksi Tumor Dan Diterapi Dengan Operasi
Abstract
The objective of this research was to observe the profile of rabbit leococytes which was induced by tumour and treated by combination of surgery (ovariohisterectomy and mastectomy) with ethanolic extract of zedoary rhizome (Curcurna zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe): preventive; curative; preventive and curative. Twenty one rabbits were used in this research, divided into seven groups: negative control, preventive and curative of curcumin, positive control, surgery, preventive of ethanolic extract of zedoary rhizome, preventive and curative of ethanolic extract of zedoary rhizome, and curative of ethanolic extract of zedoary rhizome. The blood collection was done every week for 9 weeks. The tumour was induced on second quarter of mammary gland by n-methyl-nnitrosourea (MNU) every week for 3 weeks. The ethanolic extract of zedoary was given daily for 4 weeks (preventive; curative) and 8 weeks (preventive and curative). The surgery was done in the fifth week. The result showed that the total leucocyte, neutrophil (heterophil), eosinophil and basophil count increased before surgery. On the other hand, the total leucocyte, neutrophil and lymphocyte count decreased after the administration of ethanolic extract of zedoary rhizome.
