dc.description.abstractThe objective of this case study is to observe how to appropriately diagnose acute and chronics disease through histological blood smear of six hospitalized pet at the Animal Veterinary Hospital IPB. The observation showed that: (1) the elevation of percentage circulating neutrophil is indicating that an infection occurred, (2) the elevating of percentage circulating neutrophil that followed by the elevation of percentage circulating band neutrophil is indicating that left shift orderly, (3) the degree of the left shift might be the main indicator of the inflammatory status whether acute or chronic, (4) band neutrophil percentage in acute inflammation will be higher than in chronic condition, due to the increasing migration of neutrophil from circulation to infection tissue, (5) the terminology of acute or chronic disease that used by veterinary practices is tendenciously base on mild or severe inflammation. In order to eliminate dispute on its diagnosing, leucocyte differential examination should be used as the basis disease diagnose.en
