Abstract

Menyadari kerusakan terumbu karang di Indonesia yang terus berlanjut, maka terumbu buatan memiliki potensi sebagai alat rehabilitasi ekosistem perairan pantai, atau minimal sebagai slahs atu alternatif untuk mengurangi tekanan pemanfaatan di terumbu alami dengan menciptakan artficial reefs fishing ground baru.

Realizing the continuous damages of Indonesian natural coral reefs, the artificial reefs from an ecological perspective, exhibit a significant potential as a tool in the rehabilitation of coastal ecosystems. At least an alternative to decrease the harvesting pressure on natural reefs by creating new fishing grounds. However, their utilization as reef fishing grounds in practice, may not be beneficial economically without significant support of protected nursery ground reefs.
