dc.description.abstractThis research uses the secondary data set of 175 sub-districts of disricts in West Kalimantan Province to know the spatial patterns of poverty, human/social development and economic activities and to analyze their linkages. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Cluster and Discriminant Analysis are used to obtain the characteristic of poverty, human/social development, and economic activities, and input the result to GIS operation system (ArcGIS 9.3) to show the spatial patterns. The results of PCA used to analyze the linkage of poverty, human/social development and economic activities by weighted multiple regression to formulate the Spatial Durbin Model. The study found that the pockets of poverty located in mainly areas and few in border areas. Most of areas have found low human/social development and economic activities, especially in the centre areas. The parameters of region itself could decline the poverty are the maize production and the number of leather home industries. The parameters of related region affected are number of poor people (the pre-prosperous and first prosperous families), number of teachers of primary up to senior high school, number of pre-school, senior high school and university, and the maize, rubber and oil palm productions.en
