Morphometric Variation Of Genus Dobsonia (Mammalia, Pteropodidae) From Indonesian Papua
Abstract
Based on 176 specimens and 32 characters of Dobsonia from Indonesian Papua, the study on their morphometric variation of Dobsonia were carried out. The specimens represented six OTUs, i.e G, B, R, E, SP1, and SP2. Univariate analysis computed all of adult specimens that consist of 171 external and wing characters and 176 skull and teeth characters on six OTUs. PCA and T test analysis computed to G, B, and R, whereas three OTU of them were projected in scatter plot. The results showed there are sexual dimorphism in D. minor and D. beauforti based on T test (p<0.05). The PCA was separated D. magna, D. minor, D. beauforti were significant on body, wing and teeth characters. D. emersa separated from other species on body and skull characters. SP1 and SP2, however, they can not be diagnosed separately from D. beauforti. The characters that can be used as taxonomical characters of Dobsonia are WT, HB and TV for body characters; FA, TIB, and DIG1P for wing characters; ONL, POW, PL, and MH for skull characters; I2M2, M2M2, WM1 and LM1 for teeth characters. D. minor that found at Waigeo island in 2007, formerly it found only in Papua mainland and Yapen Island.
