Identifikasi Protozoa Parasit Darah pada Anjing (Canis sp.) Ras Impor di Balai Besar Karantina Pertanian Soekarno Hatta

Abstract

SUPRIYONO DWI ATMOJO. Identification of Blood Parasites Protozoa of Imported Breed Dogs (Canis sp.) in Soekarno Hatta Agriculture Quarantine. Under direction of SRI UTAMI HANDAJANI. The aim of this study was to found and identified a protozoa in blood of imported breed dogs in Soekarno Hatta Agriculture Quarantine. A blood specimen that was take from 30 dogs smeared with Giemsa Stain and examined using a microscope with 100x magnification. A protozoan parasites were found in 11 blood samples. The genus of blood parasites is Babesia, Anaplasma and Haemobartonella. The transmission of these parasites related to Rhipicephalus sanguines as an arthropoda vectors. The seven blood samples of 11 blood samples were being takes from the long hair dogs. Otherwise, long hair type is a predisposition factor of parasites infection in dogs.
