Efektivitas Penyuntikan Pregnant Mare's Serum Gonadotropin Sebelum Perkawinan Pada Bobot Organ Anak Tilllis Putih Saat Lahir

Abstract

An experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Physiology, of Physiology and Pharmacology Department of The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University from December 1999 until January 2001 to study the effect of superovulation with PMSG prior to mating on the organs weight of pups. Twenty mature rats Sprague Dawley strained were used in this experiment. 1he experimental rats were assigned into a randomized design with 4x2 factorial arrangement. The first factor was PMSG (0; 37.5; 75 and 150 IU/kg BW). The second factor lVas pups sex (male and female). Diestrus rats were injected with PMSG via intraperitoneal. Fourty eight hours later hCG was injected to increase ovulation, then the experimental rats were mated and maintained until parturition. The organ (the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, kidney, brain, ovary and testicle) of two hundred and twenty six pups bom were measured. The result showed that PMSG did not influence the body weight and organs weight except for the ovarium weight of female pups.
