Penelitian terdiri dari dua tahap. Percobaan tahap I bertujuan untuk menentukan kebutuhan asam lemak n-6 dan n-3. Dalam percobaan ini digunakan empat jenis pakan dengan perbedaan kadar asam lemak n-6 dan n-3 sebagai berikut. Pakan A 0.77% asam lemak n-6, 0.56% asam lemak n-3; pakan B 1.56%,0.78%; pakan C 1.74%, 1.00% dan pakan D 2.03%, 1.82%. Tuju h ekor induk dengan berat rata-rata 290-327g ditebar ke setiap jaring apung. Pakan diberikan dua kali sehari secara at satiation . Sampling dilakukan setiap dua minggu untuk mengev aluasi perkembangan gonad. Kandungan lemak dan komposisi a sam lemak di hati, telur dan larva umur 0 dan 24 jam dianalisis. Berdasarkan eva luasi pada lama waktu matang gonad, fekunditas, derajat tetas telur, derajat kel angsung hidup dan persentase larva abnormal yang dihasilkan induk, dapat disimpulkan k adar asam lemak n-6 1.56% dan n-3 0.78% optimal untuk pakan induk. This research consisted of two experimental phases. The aim of the first experiment phase is to determine the optimum dietar y of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids level. Four experimental diets with different level of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids namely diet A containing 0.77% n-6 fatty acids and 0.56% n-3 fatt y acids; diet B 1.56%, 0.78%; diet C 1.74%, 1.00% and diet D 2.03%,1.82%, respectively , were used in this experiment. Seven broodstocks with mean body weight of 290-327g were placed in each net cage. Fish fed on the experimental diet two times daily, at satiation . Sampling of fish was done in every two weeks in order to evaluate the go nad development. Analysis of lipid level and fatty acids composition was done fo r the liver, eggs, larva at 0 and 24 th hour after hatching. Based on the time of gonad mat uration, fecundity, hatching rate, survival rate and percentage of abnormal larva prod uced by the broodstock, it was concluded that the optimum dietary n-6 fatty acids level is 1.56% and n-3 fatty acids is 0.78%.
