dc.description.abstractDetermination of fish fishing ground can be estimated from water condition that is a species habitat. Generally, Oceanography parameters showed water condition. Sea surface temperature and chlorophyl -a are an important oceanography parameters to know the existence and to analyze a potential fishing ground easier. This research was expected could give benefits as sources information for stakeholders who needed such as fisherman to develop the efficiency of catching the fish and to be a recommendation in making policy of skipjack tuna fisheries using. This research was conducted at Mentawai waters (catchment at the field) from March until April 2007. Data of satellite Citra was collected at LAPAN from July-October 2007. The result of this research shows that a result number of skipjack tuna catchment not influenced by sea surface temperature, but it was influenced by concentration of chlorophyl -a. Whereas the lenght of the fish shape was influenced by both of them. Upwelling occurred in August 2006, November 2006 and May 2007 that is at season of east and transition season (between monsoons).id
