| dc.description.abstract | Shorea laevis Ridl. is an important Dipterocarpaceae species with ecological and economic values in the forests of Kalimantan. This study aimed to analyze vegetation composition and structure, as well as the association of S. laevis with other plant species in its natural habitat in Kalimantan. The study was conducted in four populations, namely Bukit Bangkirai, HCV PT Multi Kusuma Cemerlang, Betung Kerihun–Danau Sentarum National Park, and PT Sarpatim, using 20 plots established through purposive sampling. The analyses included vegetation composition, Important Value Index (IVI), species richness, diversity, evenness, and species association using the Chi-square test and Ochiai Index. S. laevis had an IVI of 231.7 at the tree stage and 63.3 at the pole stage. The highest tree-stage diversity was found in Betung Kerihun–Danau Sentarum National Park (H' = 3.29; Dmg = 8.01; J' = 0.95). At the tree stage, 80% of species pairs showed strong positive associations, specifically between Shorea laevis and Lithocarpus encleisocarpus, Rubroshorea parvifolia, Irvingia malayana, and Palaquium stellatum, while all pole-stage pairs showed weak positive associations (Ochiai = 0.35). | |
