      Abstract

The high mortality rate during the early rearing stages of Oreochromis niloticus is generally caused by inadequate nutritional completeness in the feed. This research aims to evaluate the effect of zinc (Zn) bioencapsulation in Moina sp. on the performance of Nile tilapia larvae. The study was conducted for 20 days, at October 2025, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four zinc enrichment treatments: Control (C), 0.03 mg/mL, 0.06 mg/mL, and 0.12 mg/mL. The analysis of variance showed that zinc enrichment did not have a statistically significant effect on the daily growth rate, survival rate, and feed efficiency. Nevertheless, descriptively, the 0.12 mg/mL dose treatment showed the best performance trend. This treatment yielded an absolute length growth of 1.48 cm, an absolute weight growth of 0.388 g, a specific growth rate of 12.6%/day, and the highest survival rate of 91%. Furthermore, feed efficiency in this treatment reached an optimal value of 89.0% with the lowest Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) of 1.12. A zinc dose of 0.12 mg/mL is recommended as the most effective concentration to support the growth and survival of Nile tilapia larvae.
