      Pemanfaatan Pektin dari Kulit Buah Mangga sebagai Biokoagulan untuk Menurunkan Kadar Pencemar Air Limbah Batik

      Abstract
      Air limbah batik mengandung berbagai pencemar seperti Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), kekeruhan, terutama Total Suspended Solid (TSS) yang dapat merusak lingkungan. UMKM Kampung Batik Cibuluh Bogor belum memiliki pengolahan air limbah batik. Kulit mangga yang mengandung pektin berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai biokoagulan alami untuk menurunkan kadar pencemar. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik kimia biokoagulan kulit mangga serta menilai efektivitasnya dalam menurunkan konsentrasi pencemar. Biokoagulan dibuat melalui ekstraksi pektin menggunakan asam sitrat 7% kemudian dianalisis menggunakan Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Penelitian dilakukan dengan 5 variasi dosis melalui uji jar test dan diaplikasikan dalam bentuk bubuk. Hasil analisis FTIR mengidentifikasi gugus hidroksil, metil, garam asam uronat, karboksilat, dan fingerprint polisakarida sebagai karakteristik khas pektin. Biokoagulan menurunkan TSS dan kekeruhan dengan efektivitas 55% dan 3% pada dosis 175 mg/L, sedangkan TDS mencapai efektivitas 27% pada dosis 200 mg/L. Penurunan TSS belum memenuhi baku mutu 40 mg/L sehingga diperlukan optimasi dosis.
       
      Batik wastewater contains pollutants including Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), turbidity, Total Suspended Solids (TSS) that can damage the environment. The Batik Cibuluh Village SME in Bogor has not yet implemented batik wastewater treatment. Mango peel containing pectin can be utilized as a natural biocoagulant to reduce pollutant concentrations. This study aimed to analyze the chemical characteristics of mango peel biocoagulant and evaluate its effectiveness in reducing pollutant concentrations. The biocoagulant was prepared through pectin extraction using 7% citric acid and analyzed using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The study was conducted using five dosage variations through a jar test and applied in powder form. FTIR analysis identified hydroxyl, methyl, uronic acid salt, carboxylate, and polysaccharide fingerprint groups as characteristic features of pectin. The biocoagulant reduced TSS and turbidity, with effectiveness values of 55% and 3%, respectively, at 175 mg/L, while TDS reached 27% at 200 mg/L. TSS reduction did not meet the 40 mg/L standard, requiring dosage optimization.
