      Serangan dan Breeding site Kumbang Badak Oryctes rhinoceros pada Tanaman Kelapa di Bogor

      Abstract
      Kumbang badak Oryctes rhinoceros merupakan salah satu hama penting pada tanaman kelapa yang menyerang pucuk dan daun muda sehingga dapat menurunkan pertumbuhan dan produktivitas tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui intensitas serangan Oryctes rhinoceros pada pertanaman kelapa, mengidentifikasi breeding site yang ditemukan, serta menganalisis keterkaitan antara keberadaan breeding site dengan tingkat serangan pada tanaman kelapa. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Februari hingga Mei 2026 di Kelurahan Situgede (Kota Bogor), Desa Cikarawang, serta Desa Cihideung Ilir (Kabupaten Bogor), menggunakan metode survei deskriptif dengan pengamatan pada 50 pohon kelapa di setiap desa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa serangan Oryctes rhinoceros ditemukan pada seluruh lokasi pengamatan dengan tingkat serangan tergolong sedang. Serangan hama O. rhinoceros pada pucuk atau daun muda yang belum membuka tampak seperti guntingan atau potongan pada daun seperti huruf “V”. Desa Situgede memiliki tingkat kerusakan tertinggi berdasarkan jumlah guntingan pelepah per pohon. Breeding site yang ditemukan berupa tunggul batang kelapa mati dan lapuk serta tanah gembur yang mengandung bahan organik, dengan populasi larva instar 3 tertinggi yaitu sebanyak 8 ekor ditemukan pada tunggul batang kelapa lapuk di Kelurahan Situgede. Keberadaan breeding site dan kondisi sanitasi lingkungan berkaitan dengan tingkat serangan O. rhinoceros sehingga pengelolaan bahan organik berpotensi menjadi strategi untuk menekan perkembangan populasi hama
       
      The rhinoceros beetle, Oryctes rhinoceros, is an important pest of the coconut palm, attacking shoots and young leaves and reducing plant growth and productivity. This study aimed to determine the incidence and severity of Oryctes rhinoceros attacks on coconut plantations, identify the breeding sites found, and assess the association between the presence of breeding sites and attack levels on coconut plants. The research was conducted from February to May 2026 in Situgede Village (Bogor City), Cikarawang Village, and Cihideung Ilir Village (Bogor Regency), using a descriptive survey method with observations of 50 coconut trees in each village. The research results show that Oryctes rhinoceros attacks were found at all observation locations, with the attack levels considered mild. The O. rhinoceros pest attacks on shoots or young leaves that haven’t opened look like cuts or notches on the leaves in the shape of a “V”. Situgede village had the highest damage level based on the number of frond cuts per tree. The breeding sites found were dead and decayed coconut stumps as well as loose soil mixed with organic matter, with the highest population of eight third-instar larvae individuals found in the decayed coconut stumps in Situgede village. The presence of breeding sites and the condition of environmental sanitation are related to the level of Oryctes rhinoceros attacks, so managing organic materials could potentially be a strategy to suppress the pest population
