      Pengaruh Perkuatan CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) terhadap Karakteristik Struktural Balok Kayu Meranti

      Abstract
      Kayu meranti memiliki keterbatasan kekuatan dibandingkan material konvensional seperti beton dan baja, sehingga penggunaannya sebagai elemen struktural sering memerlukan perkuatan tambahan, salah satunya dengan CFRP yang terbukti efektif pada kayu subtropis, tetapi masih terbatas diterapkan pada kayu tropis lokal Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh variasi konfigurasi (u-wrap dan bottom), panjang, lebar, dan jumlah lapisan CFRP terhadap karakteristik lentur balok kayu meranti. Delapan balok kayu meranti berukuran 50x50x1000 mm diperkuat CFRP unidirectional dengan teknik externally bonded reinforcement dan dibandingkan dengan balok kontrol, lalu diuji four-point loading mengacu standar BS EN 408:1995. Hasil menunjukkan perkuatan CFRP meningkatkan kapasitas beban maksimum 8,7-71%, kekakuan lentur 47-76,9%, energi absorpsi 59,3-219,7%, dan daktilitas 10-58,8% dibandingkan balok kontrol. Lebar CFRP 40 mm menghasilkan kekakuan dan daktilitas tertinggi, sedangkan penambahan jumlah lapisan CFRP tidak selalu meningkatkan performa karena berisiko memicu kegagalan lepas ikatan (debonding). Konfigurasi u-wrap dengan panjang 720 mm, lebar 40 mm, dan satu lapis CFRP menghasilkan peningkatan performa lentur tertinggi. Balok perkuatan CFRP juga menunjukkan mekanisme kegagalan lebih bertahap dibandingkan balok kontrol. Penelitian ini menunjukkan CFRP merupakan metode perkuatan efektif untuk meningkatkan performa struktural kayu meranti dan berpotensi mengurangi kebutuhan kayu berdimensi besar.
       
      Meranti wood has limited strength compared to concrete and steel, so its structural use often requires reinforcement, one option being CFRP, proven effective for subtropical wood but still limited for Indonesian tropical wood. This study analyzed how CFRP configuration (u-wrap and bottom), length, width, and layer number affect the flexural characteristics of meranti wood beams. Eight meranti beams (50x50x1000 mm) were reinforced with unidirectional CFRP via externally bonded reinforcement, compared with a control beam, then tested under four-point loading following BS EN 408:1995. Results showed CFRP reinforcement increased maximum load capacity by 8,7-71%, flexural stiffness by 47-76,9%, absorbed energy by 59,3-219,7%, and ductility by 10-58,8% relative to the control beam. A 40 mm CFRP width produced the highest stiffness and ductility, while additional layers did not always improve performance, as this raised debonding risk. The u-wrap configuration with 720 mm length, 40 mm width, and a single layer yielded the highest flexural performance. CFRP-reinforced beams also showed a more gradual failure mechanism than the control beam. This study indicate CFRP is an effective method for improving the structural performance of meranti wood and may reduce the need for large-dimension timber.
