Dodder is a higher angiosperm parasitic plant on other plants that has a very wide geographical distribution and host range. The dodder can parasitize cultivated plants such as tomatoes which has the potential to cause yield loss, if not managed properly. The study aims to describe the morphological characteristics of the dodder from Bogor, confirm it molecularly through PCR-sequencing techniques using the ITS1/ITS4 primer pair, and determine the range of its host plants and the parasitism process on tomato plants resulting from inoculation in a greenhouse. The dodder sample RB1 from Rancabungur, Bogor Regency was molecularly confirmed as Cuscuta spp. with the highest level of similarity to the accession Cuscuta campestris origin Türkiye, C. australis from China, C. chinensis from Iraq with identity percentages of 99.64, 99.47, and 99.29%, respectively. The dodder in Bogor was found to be able to parasitize wild plants, cultivated plants, and experimental plants including the families Poaceae, Araceae, Acanthaceae, Fabaceae, Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae, Solanaceae, Verbenaceae, and Apocynaceae. The vines inoculated with their vines on tomatoes in a greenhouse survived for a maximum of 14 days, after which the vines were unable to continue growing. This is likely due to the lack of freshness of the inoculum, less than optimal greenhouse conditions for vine parasitism, or the resistance response of the tomato plant as the host.
