Textile industry dyeing wastewater contains suspended solids, dyes, organic compounds, and heavy metals that require treatment before discharge into the environment. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of bottom ash as a filtration medium and to determine optimal activation conditions based on variations in bottom ash mass, temperature, and activation time. Treatment was conducted using a filtration column with bottom ash masses of 500 g, 750 g, and 1 kg; activation temperatures of 55°C, 75°C, 95°C, and 105°C; and activation times of 30, 60, and 90 minutes. The results indicated that bottom ash mass, activation temperature, activation time, and their interactions significantly influenced the removal of total suspended solids (TSS), color, and chemical oxygen demand (COD) (p=0.05). Optimal conditions were achieved using 1 kg of bottom ash activated at 105°C for 90 minutes, yielding removal efficiencies of 98.5% for TSS, 99.7% for color, 94.1% for COD, and 88.2% for total chromium, while the pH value remained within regulatory standards. These results demonstrate the potential of bottom ash as an effective and sustainable alternative filtration medium for treating textile industry dyeing wastewater.
