Kecamatan Bomberay memiliki potensi pengembangan padi dan sagu sebagai sumber pangan lokal. Masyarakat menjadikan beras sebagai pangan pokok, namun pengembangan padi masih menghadapi berbagai kendala, seperti keterbatasan irigasi, kondisi lahan, serta serangan hama dan penyakit. Di sisi lain, Kecamatan Bomberay memiliki potensi sagu yang cukup besar sehingga berpeluang mendukung ketahanan pangan melalui pemanfaatan sumberdaya lokal. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis potensi pengembangan padi varietas unggul baru dan sagu sebagai sumber pangan lokal, menganalisis pendapatan usahatani, serta mengkaji peran padi dan sagu dalam mendukung ketahanan pangan berkelanjutan di Kecamatan Bomberay. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada September 2025 hingga Januari 2026 menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods. Data dikumpulkan melalui uji coba budidaya padi varietas IPB 9G, IPB 13S dan IPB 15S, observasi, wawancara, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), kuesioner serta data sekunder dari instansi terkait. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif, uji ANOVA, skala likert, analisis usahatani dan analisis SWOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas IPB 9G memiliki produktivitas tertinggi sebesar 5,06 ton GKP per ha, 4,34 ton GKG per ha dan 2,89 ton beras per ha. Varietas IPB 9G menjadi satu-satunya varietas yang layak dan menguntungkan secara ekonomi dengan R/C ratio 1,7 dan pendapatan Rp34.363.930 per hektar. Pengembangan padi masih terkendala oleh keterbatasan lahan potensial, belum tersedianya jaringan irigasi, genangan pada sebagian lahan, serta kebutuhan sarana produksi yang cukup tinggi. Kecamatan Bomberay memiliki potensi sagu seluas 4.005,29 ha yang sesuai dikembangkan pada kondisi lahan setempat dan berpotensi menjadi sumber pangan. Minat petani untuk melanjutkan usahatani padi tergolong tinggi, sementara masyarakat memberikan respon positif terhadap pengembangan produk olahan sagu. Hasil analisis SWOT menunjukkan perlunya pengembangan IPB 9G pada lahan yang sesuai dan pemanfaatan sagu sebagai sumber pangan lokal untuk mendukung ketahanan pangan berkelanjutan melalui perbaikan infrastruktur, peningkatan kapasitas masyarakat, pengendalian organisme pengganggu tanaman, diversifikasi pangan dan pengembangan produk olahan sagu.

Bomberay District has considerable potential for developing rice and sago as local food sources. Rice is the staple food of the community; however, rice development still faces various constraints, including limited irrigation, land conditions, and pest and disease attacks. On the other hand, Bomberay District has considerable sago potential, providing an opportunity to support food security through the utilization of local resources. This study aimed to analyze the development potential of improved rice varieties and sago as local food sources, analyze farm income, and examine the roles of rice and sago in supporting sustainable food security in Bomberay District. The study was conducted from September 2025 to January 2026 using a mixed-methods approach. Data were collected through cultivation trials of the rice varieties IPB 9G, IPB 13S, and IPB 15S, observations, interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), questionnaires, and secondary data from relevant institutions. Data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive analyses, analysis of variance (ANOVA), a Likert scale, farm business analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results showed that IPB 9G had the highest productivity, reaching 5.06 tons of harvested dry grain per hectare, 4.34 tons of milled dry grain per hectare, and 2.89 tons of rice per hectare. IPB 9G was the only variety that was economically feasible and profitable, with an R/C ratio of 1.7 and an income of IDR 34,363,930 per hectare. Rice development was still constrained by limited potential land, the unavailability of irrigation networks, waterlogging in some areas, and relatively high production input requirements. Bomberay District has approximately 4,005.29 ha of sago potential that is suitable for development under local land conditions and has the potential to serve as a food source. Farmers’ interest in continuing rice farming was relatively high, while the community responded positively to the development of sago-based products. The SWOT analysis indicated the need to develop IPB 9G on suitable land and utilize sago as a local food source to support sustainable food security through infrastructure improvement, community capacity building, integrated pest management, food diversification, and the development of value-added sago products.
