      Abstract

Particulate matter (PM) dynamics are influenced by various factors, including emission sources, particulate transport and transformation process, as well as meteorological factors. This study aims to analyze the relationship of aerosol optical depth (AOD) and meteorological factors including air temperature (T), wind speed (WS) and relative humidity (RH) with PM10 and PM2,5 using correlation analysis, and evaluate linear regression statistical models incorporating AOD, boundary layer height (BLH), and WS in DKI Jakarta. Ground based data from five air quality monitoring stations (SPKUA) were integrated with reanalysis data and satellite data from MODIS Terra and Aqua. Results show that AOD and T correlated positively with r = 0,24 and 0,16 for PM10 and r = 0,46 and 0,18 for PM2,5, whereas WS and RH showed negative correlations with r = -0,07 and -0,23 for PM10 and r = -0,12 and -0,23 for PM2,5, while stronger correlations appeared during the wet season (DJF) than the dry season (JJA). Simple linear regression for AOD-PM yielded R2 = 0,0420 – 0,2142. Meanwhile, multiple linear regression using AOD, BLH, and WS as predictors resulted in R2 = 0,0119 – 0,1188 for PM10 and R2 = 0,0262 – 0,2284 for PM2,5. The overall low performance of models indicates linear statistical approaches are limited in capturing complex dynamics and interactions between pollutants and local meteorological conditions in tropical urban environments like DKI Jakarta.
