      Abstract
SAHAT MARULITUA MANURUNG.

SAHAT MARULITUA MANURUNG. Performance Analysis of Herbicide Application Nozzles at Various Growth Phases of Oil Palm. Supervised by MUHAMMAD IQBAL NURULHAQ. Proper nozzle selection determines chemical weed control effectiveness in oil palm plantations. This study analyzed three nozzles (blue cone/N1, orange flat fan/N2, adjustable black cone/N3) across TBM, TMM, and TMT phases, including economic and environmental impacts. A nested design with 27 plots was used. Parameters included droplet characteristics (Water Sensitive Paper–ImageJ), visual mortality at 4 DAA, greenness dynamics (GLI), and application costs. N1 and N2 produced Medium droplets (VMD 320.40 µm and 238.67 µm), N3 Fine (230.40 µm) with drift-prone <0.01%. N2 excelled in coverage (26.50%) and uniformity (17.82%). No mortality differences among nozzles (p>0.05) were found, but phase significantly affected greenness reduction (p=0.0043). N2 was most economical (Rp321,579/ha, cost efficiency Rp56,718/% GLI reduction) and is recommended for all phases.
