      Abstract

Catfish farming is an important freshwater aquaculture business, but the presence of bacteria may affect its production and economic performance. This applied study aimed to identify bacteria in catfish Clarias sp. farming in Bandung City, describe water quality and fish clinical signs, and examine their relationship with production and economic aspects. The study was conducted in four farming areas: South Bandung, West Bandung, East Bandung, and North Bandung. Bacterial analysis was performed using the Total Plate Count (TPC) method, Gram staining, and biochemical tests. The results showed that bacterial abundance ranged from 7.1–7.9 × 107 CFU/mL, with the identified genera being Aeromonas sp. and Pseudomonas sp. The R/C ratio ranged from 1.2 to 3.0, with the highest profit of Rp141,788,786 in North Bandung and the lowest of Rp9,194,357 in South Bandung. All locations showed an R/C ratio of >1, indicating that catfish farming is economically viable.
