Abstract

ABSTRAK ZIDANE AHMAD AL FAWZAN HAQ. Penerapan Teknik Sinematografi oleh Director of Photography pada Produksi Film Branded Documentary “Back to Glory". Dibimbing oleh GURUH RAMDANI. Kangen Tennis merupakan komunitas tenis di Jakarta yang berkembang pesat sejak 2023, tetapi belum memiliki konten visual berdurasi panjang untuk memperkenalkan identitas dan nilai komunitas secara utuh, sehingga diproduksi film branded documentary berjudul "Back to Glory" berdurasi 25 menit yang merekam perjalanan komunitas melalui tiga sudut pandang narasumber. Proyek akhir ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan proses kerja Director of Photography (DoP) serta menguraikan penerapan empat aspek sinematografi, yaitu ukuran shot, framing dan komposisi, sudut kamera, dan pergerakan kamera, pada produksi film tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah penciptaan karya (practice-based) melalui partisipasi aktif penulis sebagai DoP sejak tahap praproduksi hingga pascaproduksi, didukung studi literatur. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa proses kerja DoP mencakup riset visual, penyusunan referensi visual, dan survei lokasi pada praproduksi; penetapan parameter kamera, koordinasi dua kamera simultan, serta penanganan hambatan teknis dan logistik pada produksi; dan peninjauan serta pemilahan materi rekaman pada pascaproduksi. Keempat aspek sinematografi diterapkan secara konsisten lintas tiga lokasi wawancara untuk menempatkan narasumber pada konteks visual yang relevan, mengarahkan jarak emosional penonton, dan menjaga koherensi ruang dan waktu antaradegan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa peran DoP tidak sekadar menghasilkan gambar estetis, melainkan memastikan setiap keputusan visual berfungsi sebagai bahasa yang mendukung penyampaian identitas dan nilai institusi secara konsisten.

Kangen Tennis is a Jakarta tennis community that has grown rapidly since 2023 but lacked long-form visual content fully introducing its identity and values, prompting production of a 25-minute branded documentary titled "Back to Glory" recording the community's journey through three interviewees. This final project aims to describe the Director of Photography's (DoP) working process and explain the application of four cinematography aspects, namely shot size, framing and composition, camera angle, and camera movement, in the film's production. The method used was practice-based creation through the author's active participation as DoP from pre-production to post-production, supported by a literature study. Results show the DoP's working process included visual research, visual reference development, and location surveys in pre-production; camera parameter setting, simultaneous two-camera coordination, and handling technical and logistical obstacles in production; and footage review and sorting in post-production. The four cinematography aspects were applied consistently across three interview locations to position interviewees within relevant visual contexts, direct the audience's emotional distance, and maintain spatial and temporal coherence between scenes. These findings indicate the DoP's role extends beyond producing aesthetic images, ensuring every visual decision functions as a language that consistently supports the institution's identity and values.
