      Abstract

Nilem fish is an Indonesian endemic freshwater fish species with strong potential as a leading aquaculture commodity. Daphnia is a natural live feed commonly used for freshwater fish larvae; however, its zinc mineral content is relatively low, making enrichment necessary. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of zinc mineral enrichment in Daphnia as a natural live feed on the growth, survival rate, and performance of nilem fish larvae. The study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments with three replicates: control, Zn 3, Zn 4, and Zn 5. The results showed that zinc mineral enrichment had a significant effect (P<0.05) on absolute length growth, absolute weight growth, and specific growth rate, but had no significant effect on survival rate. The best performance was obtained in the Zn 5 treatment (0.05 g L?¹), with an absolute length growth of 19.43 ± 0.43 mm, an absolute weight growth of 3.45 ± 0.14 mg, and a specific growth rate of 10.67 ± 0.14% day?¹. Zinc mineral enrichment at a dose of 0.05 g L?¹ in Daphnia had a positive effect on the growth performance of nilem fish larvae.
