The increase of CO2 in the atmosphere encourages the need for climate change mitigation through the management of vegetation for carbon sequestration. This study aims to analyze the species composition and stand structure, as well as estimate carbon stocks and carbon sequestration in the Taman Konservasi Kampus IPB Dramaga (3.64 ha). Data were collected through a census of all stands with a diameter of > 5 cm. Biomass was estimated using the allometric equations of Manuri et al. (2017) and Ketterings et al. (2001) for trees and Goodman et al. (2013) for palms. The Taman Konservasi has 1,302 individuals from 103 species and 40 families with a high vegetation index (H'=3.88; E=0.84; R=14.22), a horizontal structure forming an inverted J curve, and a vertical structure dominated by stratum C (4–20 m). The carbon stock of trees is 520.16 tons C (equation of Ketterings et al. (2001)) and palms 1.16 tons C (Goodman et al. (2013)), with carbon absorption of 1,908.97 tons CO2 (equation of Ketterings et al. (2001)). The potential carbon absorption rate is 66.43 tons CO2/year (equation of Ketterings et al. (2001)). Taman Konservasi serve an important role in carbon stock and sequestration in supporting climate change mitigation in campus and urban environments.
