I IRAWAN.
I IRAWAN. The Effectiveness of Carbosulfan and Cypermethrin against Rhinoceros Beetle Attacks on Immature Plants. Supervised by WANDA RUSSIANZI. Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is an important plantation commodity in Indonesia, whose productivity can be reduced due to Oryctes rhinoceros attacks, particularly in immature plants. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of insecticides containing the active ingredients Cypermethrin and Carbosulfan in suppressing O. rhinoceros attacks, as well as the cost efficiency of their control methods. The results showed that the average percentage of attacked plants ranged from 0.22% to 1.56%, categorized as very mild infestation. Carbosulfan treatments at dosages of 10 g/plant and 15 g/plant resulted in the lowest attack intensity of 0.04% and the highest effectiveness based on Abbott's Formula, reaching 87.1%. The analysis of variance indicated that the insecticide treatments did not have a significant effect on the attack intensity of O. rhinoceros. However, descriptively, Carbosulfan at a dosage of 10 g/plant was more effective and provided the best cost efficiency, yielding a savings of 54.19% compared to the treatment currently utilized by the company.
