| dc.description.abstract | Quranic recitation has been studied as an audio therapy for humans and animals to reduce stress; however, no research has specifically examined its benefits for cats. Therefore, Quranic recitation represents a novel approach worth investigating as a stress-reduction method for cats, particularly in medical settings. This study employed a repeated-measures design with a single group of five cats. The treatments administered included no audio, cat-specific music, classical music, and Quranic recitation. The parameters observed were heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature, cat stress scores, and handling scores; these were subsequently analyzed using the Friedman test and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests. The results indicated that Quranic recitation did not affect physiological parameters, although it did lead to a reduction in cat stress scores and handling scores, albeit not at a statistically significant level (p value > 0.05). | |
