      Abstract

Marginal soil is a low-quality soil characterized by low nutrients, high acidity, and low organic content. The development of sustainable seedling techniques on marginal soils requires innovative growing media that can support the growth of beneficial microorganisms. This study analyze the inoculation of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) against microbial population in mahogany seedlings (Swietenia macrophylla King) on Biodegradable pot through a factorial experiment with mycorrhizal inoculation (M1) and no inoculation (M0) treatments, as well as three organic media compositions: K1 (10% rock phosphate), K2 (10% guano), and K3 (5% guano and rock phosphate combination). The results showed that FMA inoculation significantly increased root colonization by 61.11%, the number of FMA spores, and the bacterial population. The organic medium composition control the colonization of FMA, where media with guano (K2 and K3) supported the highest mycorrhizal colonization (33.33%), while media with rock phosphate (K1) produced the highest bacterial population. The synergistic interaction between mycorrhiza and guano-based media created optimal conditions for microbial development. These findings imply that the use of organic pots with FMA inoculation can be an effective strategy to improve soil microbiological health in sustainable mahogany nurseries.
