Thalassiosira sp. is a microalga widely used as a natural feed in aquaculture
due to its high nutritional content. However, its growth success is highly dependent
on the availability and balance of nutrients in the culture medium. This study aims
to determine the best N:P:Si:Fe concentration to enhance the growth and cell quality
of Thalassiosira sp. The study used a Completely Randomized Design with five
treatments at concentrations of N = 13.56; P = 1.21; Si = 2.53; Fe = 0.10 (K),
concentration of N = 7.87; P = 0.40; Si = 3.95; Fe = 0.32 (F1×), concentration of N
= 11.80; P = 0.60; Si = 5.93; Fe = 0.47 (F1.5×), concentration of N = 15.74; P =
0.80; Si = 7.91; Fe = 0.63 (F2×), and concentration of N = 19.67; P = 1.01; Si =
9.89; Fe = 0.79 (F2.5×), with four replications. The results showed that the F1.5×
treatment produced the highest cell density and growth rate, with a 40.4% increase
compared to the control, while the best cell quality was obtained in the F1×
treatment at 97.92%. Cell size did not differ significantly among treatments, and
water quality remained within the optimal range. The F1.5× treatment, with the best
N:P:Si:Fe concentration, was found to produce the highest cell density while maintaining good cell quality.
