dc.description.abstractKutu tanaman Coccoidea merupakan hama penting dalam bidang pertanian dan hortikultura. Serangga ini bersifat polifag dan memiliki tipe alat mulut menusuk-mengisap. Serangga ini dapat menyerang tanaman hias dan tanaman buah. Kerusakan langsung biasanya ditandai dengan terjadinya klorosis, sedangkan kerusakan tidak langsung disebabkan oleh produksi embun madu yang memicu pertumbuhan embun jelaga di permukaan daun. Selain itu, Coccoidea juga berpotensi menjadi vektor penyebar virus tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi berbagai spesies kutu Coccoidea pada berbagai tanaman yang terdapat di lingkungan kampus IPB Dramaga. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Sampel kutu tanaman yang telah didapat kemudian diproses menjadi preparat slide untuk diidentifikasi berdasarkan ciri-ciri morfologi yang diamati. Sebanyak 17 spesies kutu tanaman Coccoidea yang terdiri atas empat famili kutu tanaman ditemukan menyerang 20 spesies tanaman inang. Keempat famili kutu tanaman tersebut adalah Margarodidae, Coccidae, Diaspididae, dan Pseudococcidae. Famili kutu tanaman yang paling banyak menyerang adalah Pseudococcidae yang terdiri atas tujuh spesies. Famili Diaspididae terdiri atas lima spesies, famili Coccidae terdiri atas empat spesies, dan famili Margarodidae terdiri atas satu spesies. Nipaecoccus nipae merupakan spesies kutu tanaman yang paling banyak ditemukan dan menyerang delapan spesies tanaman inang.
dc.description.abstractCoccoidea scale insects are considered as important pests in the fields of agriculture and horticulture. These insects are polyphagous and possess piercing-sucking mouthparts. They can infest both ornamental and fruit-bearing plants. Direct damage typically manifests as chlorosis, while indirect damage results from the secretion of honeydew, which facilitates the growth of sooty mold on leaf surfaces. Furthermore, Coccoidea have the potential to act as vectors for the transmission of plant viruses. This study aimed to identify various Coccoidea species found on different plants within the IPB Dramaga campus environment. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling method. The collected specimens were then prepared as microscope slides and identified to the species level based on observable morphological characteristics. A total of 17 species of Coccoidea scale insects belonging to four families were found infesting 20 host plant species. These four families were Margarodidae, Coccidae, Diaspididae, and Pseudococcidae. The most abundant family was Pseudococcidae, comprising seven species. Diaspididae consisted of five species, Coccidae of four species, and Margarodidae of one species. Nipaecoccus nipae was the most frequently encountered scale insect species and was found infesting eight host plant species.
