Corn (Zea mays L.) is one of the important commodities in Indonesia after rice, serving as a vital source of carbohydrates as well as a primary raw material for animal feed. This commodity possesses high economic value and is intensively cultivated. Corn productivity declines annually due to attacks by plant pest organisms, particularly caterpillar pests. This study aims to identify and document the various species of caterpillars present in corn (Zea mays L.) plantations in order to provide accurate information for the implementation of more precise and effective pest control strategies. Furthermore, this research is expected to serve as a preliminary step in integrated pest management efforts to minimize crop damage caused by caterpillar pests and reduce potential yield losses. Samples were collected from five corn planting locations in Dramaga District (Babakan, Cikarawang, and Purwasari Village) and Ciampea District (Benteng and Cibanteng Village), Bogor Regency, as well as one corn field location in Bubulak Subdistrict, West Bogor District, Bogor City. Identification results of the caterpillar species found include Spodoptera frugiperda, S. litura, Mythimna separata, Chrysodeixis sp. (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Ostrinia furnacalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), Pelopidas conjuncta (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae), and Spilosoma sp. (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) which were recognized as corn pests. Meanwhile, caterpillars Theretra oldenlandiae (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae) and Achaea janata (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) also detected in corn fields were considered incidental occurrences or accidental findings.
