      Konversi Batang Kelapa Sawit Menjadi Karbon dengan Teknik Pirolisis Plasma

      Abstract
      Batang kelapa sawit merupakan limbah biomassa yang melimpah dan dapat digunakan sebagai sumber karbon. Metode yang dapat digunakan untuk menyintesis karbon yaitu pirolisis plasma menggunakan alat Arc Plasma Sintering (APS) dengan variasi arus (20 A, 40 A, 60 A, dan 80 A). Sampel karbon hasil pirolisis kemudian dikarakterisasi menggunakan Raman Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), dan Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Hasil analisis dengan Raman Spectroscopy menunjukkan rasio IG/ID pada sampel dengan setiap perlakuan arus. Rasio IG/ID cenderung menurun seiring peningkatan arus hingga 60 A. Hasil data XRD menunjukkan difraktogram yang berisi puncak amorf dengan beberapa puncak yang menunjukkan struktur kristalin. Hasil perhitungan nilai parameter kisi pada XRD menunjukkan bahwa sampel karbon yang terbentuk merupakan karbon kristalin dengan struktur tetragonal. Hasil FTIR menunjukkan keberadaan gugus fungsi yang terdapat pada seluruh sampel dengan variasi arus. Hasil gas chromatography (GC) menunjukkan bahwa proses pirolisis plasma pada batang kelapa sawit menghasilkan produk gas (syngas) yang didominasi oleh gas CO dan H2.
       
      Palm oil trunks are abundant biomass waste and can be used as a carbon source. The method that can be used to synthesize carbon is plasma pyrolysis using an Arc Plasma Sintering (APS) device with varying currents (20 A, 40 A, 60 A, and 80 A). The carbon samples resulting from pyrolysis were then characterized using Raman Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The results of analysis using Raman Spectroscopy show the IG/ID ratio in samples with each current treatment. The IG/ID ratio tends to decrease as the current increases up to 60 A. The XRD data results show a diffractogram containing amorphous peaks with several peaks indicating a crystalline structure. The results of calculating the lattice parameter values in XRD show that the carbon sample formed is crystalline carbon with a tetragonal structure. FTIR results show the presence of functional groups found in all samples with variations in current. Gas chromatography (GC) results show that the plasma pyrolysis process in oil palm stems produces gas products (syngas) which are dominated by CO and H2 gas.
