dc.description.abstractJaringan serat optik memerlukan arsitektur yang optimal demi menjamin keandalan transmisi data. Penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan performa topologi Point-to-Point (P2P) dan Point-to-Multipoint (P2MP) sepanjang 12 km pada panjang gelombang 1550 nm menggunakan perhitungan teoritis serta pengujian laboratorium dengan Optical Time Domain Reflectometer dan Optical Spectrum Analyzer. Parameter yang diuji meliputi link loss budget, Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR), Q-factor, dan Bit Error Rate (BER). Hasil menunjukkan kedua topologi memenuhi standar ITU-T G.984 dengan rata-rata redaman eksperimen P2P sebesar 2,54 dB dan P2MP sebesar 23,28 dB. Pada parameter OSNR, topologi P2P menghasilkan nilai rata-rata sebesar 52,69 dB, sedangkan topologi P2MP mengalami degradasi akibat redaman tambahan dari splitter ganda 1:8. Untuk uji transmisi digital, topologi P2P menghasilkan nilai Q-factor 13,17 dan BER 1,03 x 10^(-39), sedangkan P2MP menghasilkan Q-factor 9,38 dan BER 3,5 x 10^(-21). Secara keseluruhan, kedua topologi layak diimplementasikan.
dc.description.abstractFiber optic networks require an optimal architecture to ensure reliable data transmission. This study aims to compare the performance of Point-to-Point (P2P) and Point-to-Multipoint (P2MP) topologies over a 12 km optical link at a wavelength of 1550 nm using theoretical calculations and laboratory measurements with an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer and an Optical Spectrum Analyzer. The evaluated parameters include link loss budget, Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR), Q-factor, and Bit Error Rate (BER). The results show that both topologies comply with the ITU-T G.984 standard, with average experimental attenuation values of 2,54 dB for P2P and 23,28 dB for P2MP. In terms of OSNR, the P2P topology achieved an average value of 52,69 dB, whereas the P2MP topology experienced degradation due to the additional attenuation introduced by dual 1:8 optical splitters. In digital transmission tests, the P2P topology achieved a Q-factor of 13,17 and a BER of 1,03 x 10^(-39), while the P2MP topology achieved a Q-factor of 9,38 and a BER of 3,5 x 10^(-21). Overall, both topologies are feasible for implementation.
