      Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is the highest vector-borne infectious disease in the past fifty years, with an estimated 3.97 billion people living in at-risk zones. This study aims to identify the influence of climatic factors on dengue incidence rate by determining the optimal time lag, estimating thresholds, and predictive modelling. The study uses Generalized Additive Models (GAM) to determine time lags, Classification and Regression Tree (CART) to estimate thresholds, and Support Vector Regression (SVR) to construct three models for predicting incidence rates and classifying dengue vulnerability. Results show that wind speed and maximum temperature exhibit the shortest lag at 1 month, whereas minimum temperature, mean temperature, humidity, and rainfall exhibit longer lags at 2 months. Time lag depends on the biological phases of the mosquito vector. Threshold analysis identified climatic conditions that support transmission surges and established thresholds of rainfall 208 mm, minimum temperature 20.6°C, and humidity 72.5%. These three climatic elements are the strongest parameters influencing dengue incidence dynamics. In modelling, the model using historical incidence rate (IR) and climatic inputs was most optimal for predicting incidence rates and vulnerability, outperforming the model with climate inputs only and the autoregressive IR model.
