      Abstract

This study aims to improve material efficiency and reduce chocolate waste in the chocolate spraying process at PT UI through the implementation of autonomous maintenance. The problem is caused by process instability and suboptimal machine condition control, leading operators to make excessive manual adjustments. The method used is quantitative descriptive with a Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) approach and the implementation of the seven steps of autonomous maintenance, with data collection through pre- and post-improvement observations and measurements. The results showed that the average chocolate weight decreased from 8.41 grams to 6.44 grams (23.42%) and a reduction in variation of 8.65%, indicating improved process stability. Statistical tests revealed a significant difference (p-value < 0.05) with a strong effect size, and the majority of products fell into the CRQS Green category. Thus, the implementation of autonomous maintenance is effective in improving material efficiency and process stability.
