      Abstract

Conventional cancer treatments have limitations because they can damage normal body cells, necessitating a more selective approach such as extracellular vesicles. This study aims to test the ability of extracellular vesicles from Macaca fascicularis mesenchymal stem cells as an in vitro model candidate for therapeutic agents for MCF-7 cancer cells. Extracellular vesicles were isolated from mesenchymal stem cell supernatants and characterized through the expression of CD9 and CD81 markers, then applied to cultures of MCF-7 cancer cells and Vero cells as representative normal cells. Cell viability and growth inhibition were tested using the MTT assay, and morphological changes were observed. The result indicate that extracellular vesicles can inhibit growth and reduce the viability of MCF-7 cancer cells, and induce changes in shape, size, and arrangement without showing toxic effects on Vero cells. These finding suggests that extracellular vesicles have potential as an selective anticancer agent against MCF-7 without causing toxic effects on Vero cells.
