      Abstract

Recreation programs that engage children in physical activity remain uncommon at tourism destinations, even though they can support motor development in elementary school-age children. This study designed “Motocraft,” a recreation program at BSD Xtreme Park intended to stimulate children’s motor skills. The design drew on an inventory of the park’s attractions and of craft activities at Rumah Tanah Liat Citra, on standards recommended by child-development experts, and on elementary school teachers’ preferences. Following an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design, it combined observation, expert interviews, and a questionnaire survey of private elementary school teachers in South Tangerang. Five outdoor attractions proved suitable for gross motor skills and eight craft activities for fine motor skills across graded levels of difficulty. Experts advised grouping children into 6–8 and 9–12 year age groups. All teacher-preference indicators were rated highly relevant. By integrating both forms of stimulation across the two age groups, “Motocraft” gives destination managers and schools a practical option for educational children’s recreation.
