IRENE PADMATISTI ASTADEWI. Konfirmasi Keberadaan Larva Trichinella

sp.

IRENE PADMATISTI ASTADEWI. Confirmation of Trichinella sp. Larvae in
Seropositive Wild Boar (Sus scrofa) Meat using the Compression Method.
Supervised by FADJAR SATRIJA and TRIOSO PURNAWARMAN
Trichinella sp. infection is a zoonotic disease transmitted by consuming
meat containing infective larvae. Wild boar (Sus scrofa) is a natural reservoir of
this parasite. This study aimed to confirm the presence of Trichinella sp. larvae in
seropositive wild boar meat using the compression test. Thin sections of
seropositive meat were sandwiched between two glass plates, compressed, and
examined under a microscope to identify larval morphology or nurse cell
structures within muscle fibers. No Trichinella sp. larval morphology or capsule
structures were detected in the examined samples. This result may reflect low
infection levels, uneven larval distribution, or the limited sensitivity of the
compression test. Therefore, more sensitive direct diagnostic methods are needed
to confirm the presence and morphology of Trichinella sp. larvae.
