dc.description.abstractPenelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan efektivitas ß-hydroxyethyl phenyl ether (2-PE) dan tricaine methanesulfonate (MS-222) sebagai preparat sedasi pada ikan koi (Cyprinus carpio haematopterus). Digunakan 15 ekor ikan koi yang dibagi menjadi kelompok kontrol negatif, 2-PE (0,2 mL/L), dan MS-222 (50 mg/L). Pengamatan dilakukan secara focal sampling dengan pencatatan parameter sedasi meliputi waktu onset, durasi, pemulihan, frekuensi gerakan operkulum, gambaran insang, dan respons refleks ikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan (p>0,05) antara 2-PE dan MS-222 pada seluruh parameter sedasi. Kedua sediaan menunjukkan pola penurunan frekuensi gerakan operkulum serta righting reflex dan withdrawal reflex selama sedasi, diikuti peningkatan kembali saat pemulihan. Secara makroskopis, tidak ditemukan perubahan pada gambaran insang di seluruh kelompok perlakuan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, 2-PE memiliki efektivitas yang sebanding dengan MS-222 dan berpotensi sebagai alternatif preparat sedasi yang efektif dalam menurunkan respons refleks ikan koi hingga tahap sedasi tanpa menunjukkan gangguan respirasi yang teramati berdasarkan frekuensi gerakan operkulum dan gambaran insang.
dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to compare the effectiveness of ß-hydroxyethyl phenyl ether (2-PE) and tricaine methanesulfonate (MS-222) as sedative agents in koi fish (Cyprinus carpio haematopterus). Fifteen koi fish were divided into three treatment groups: negative control, 2-PE (0.2 mL/L), and MS-222 (50 mg/L). Observations were performed using a focal sampling method by recording sedation parameters including onset time, duration, recovery, opercular movement frequency, gill appearance, and reflex responses. No significant differences (p>0.05) were found between 2-PE and MS-222 for any sedation parameter. Both agents caused similar decreases in opercular movement frequency, righting reflexes, and withdrawal reflexes during sedation, followed by increases during recovery. No macroscopic changes in gill appearance were observed in any group. Based on these results, 2 PE showed effectiveness comparable to MS-222 and has potential as an effective alternative sedative agent for reducing koi fish reflex responses to the targeted level of sedation without observable respiratory disturbances based on opercular movement frequency and gill appearance.
