      Abstract

This Guppy fish Poecilia reticulata is an economically valuable freshwater ornamental fish prized for its body coloration. Carotenoids as the main color forming pigments, cannot be synthesized by fish and must be obtained through feed. This study evaluated the effectiveness of carrot flour and pumpkin flour in enhancing guppy color brightness. A 45-day trial used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replicates: K (control), TW 5% (carrot flour), TL 5% (pumpkin flour), and TWL 5%+5% (combination). Both flours significantly affected (P<0.05) color brightness, with the highest value in TW (27.20±0.10), followed by TWL (26.00±0.11), TL (25.48±0.19), and control (24.01±0.21). The highest carotenoid body content was in TW (12.52 mg/kg). Growth and survival rate did not differ significantly (P>0.05), and water quality remained within the optimal range for guppy. The addition of 5% carrot flour is an effective natural ingredient in enhancing the color brightness of guppy fish.
