Land degraded by the exploitation of natural resources, such as limestone mining, leads to a decline in soil fertility and the loss of vegetation. One effective method of land restoration is the use of organic materials such as compost. This study examined the effects of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) compost and humic acid on the growth of Calophyllum inophyllum L. (Nyamplung) seedlings in former limestone mining sites. The study used a two-factor completely randomized design (CRD) with humic acid (0; 2.5; 5; 7.5 g) and elephant grass compost (0; 100; 200 g). The parameters observed included height, diameter, number of leaves, fresh weight, dry weight, and shoot-to-root ratio over 11 weeks. The results showed that a 100 g dose of elephant grass compost was the most effective in promoting plant height and the number of leaves. Meanwhile, the combination of 200 g of compost and 7.5 g of humic acid increased both the fresh weight and dry weight of the plants. The varying results across different parameters indicate that each phase of plant growth has distinct nutritional requirements.
